Sharepoint 2012 Authentication for non-AD users -

we have sharepoint site used both internally , externally. internal users authentication via ad , there no issues. external users authenticated using sts , portal user table. whenever external user tries open document have re-enter login credentials.

this happens everytime open document unless happen have left application document read in left open, i.e. if open word document, leave open , open word document don't asked credentials.

this royal pain using site document review, revision , collaboration. our systems team working designed , there nothing can done it. there practical way resolve without external users having configure on own system or network?

thanks

jim

here solution found quite time ago..

  1. in internet explorer, click on tools , select manage add-ons
  2. highlight toolbars , extensions in left navigation.
  3. locate sharepoint opendocuments class
  4. right-click , click disable button
  5. close , refresh browser
