linux - Is cpanel/WHM needed to run a webserver for a newbie? -

i focussed on web development , main operating system windows. result of don't have clue unix systems or webservers.

now wanted vps server host of websites i'm not sure chose.

reading articles web security, don't know if i'll capable of securing webserver won't end getting hacked or else.

after research found following 2 options suitable me:

*1 digital ocean cloud vps - vps along shell access , you're on own. there great tutorials , i'm sure vps running website following tutorials good? how big chances of getting hacked if don't know do?

*2 small orange cloud vps - free whm/cpanel , think manage systems security won't issue , managing server should easy.

also i'm wondering if whm/cpanel take lot of resources server slower 1 running without it, possible or doesn't cpanel/whm affect system speed?

i couldn't decide days, having thoughts on that?

cpanel backend management utility. if you're starting out, i'd it's requirement. suggest grabbing cheap linux based webhost. can find them $5/mo or so. also, can install virtualbox, download copy of debian 32bit , setup own server practice on. gl.
