Sharepoint 2012 Authentication for non-AD users -
we have sharepoint site used both internally , externally. internal users authentication via ad , there no issues. external users authenticated using sts , portal user table. whenever external user tries open document have re-enter login credentials.
this happens everytime open document unless happen have left application document read in left open, i.e. if open word document, leave open , open word document don't asked credentials.
this royal pain using site document review, revision , collaboration. our systems team working designed , there nothing can done it. there practical way resolve without external users having configure on own system or network?

here solution found quite time ago..
- in internet explorer, click on tools , select manage add-ons
- highlight toolbars , extensions in left navigation.
- locate sharepoint opendocuments class
- right-click , click disable button
- close , refresh browser
